Family photo session preparation

Thank you for booking a photo session with me, I am so excited to photograph your family. My goal is to capture who your family is right now, not to make you do anything stiff or unnatural, you just need to show up prepared to have fun and relax.

My style

How would you describe your photography style?
I try and keep my family photography very natural, capturing the action as it happens, so it's lots of fun and not too much posing. I feel this will bring out the true character of your children and will also make the session more enjoyable.

My work has been described as natural, creative and emotional with a fine art quality. I combine traditional and lifestyle photography along with family portraiture to capture genuine images for you to treasure for a lifetime. I aim to tell about you and the connection with your loved ones.

We will be careful to the needs of children. If we have to stop for a snack or another reason, we will definitely do it.

PHOTO SESSION

Where does the session take place?

The one-and-half hour sessions take place in one location - either in your family home or one of the beautiful locations here in Munich. Newborn sessions are held at your home.

What happens if it rains?

I am flexible to change the day and reschedule. 

What happens if my child is ill?
I am happy to reschedule if this happens, I just ask that you let me know as soon as possible.

Do you take any traditional posed shots?
Yes, I will spend some time taking some relaxed portraits of you together as a family, as this can be an important record for you. But I spend more time letting the action happen naturally and capturing the moments as they unfold.

Should we bring anything to the session?
It's great if you can bring along some of your child's favourite toys, games, balls, kites, bubbles – anything that you enjoy doing together as a family. Snacks are also a good idea to boost your child's energy levels.

What should we all wear?
Be comfortable, be yourself: you all want to look and feel like yourselves. As a guide simple clothes tend to work best and avoiding logos and stripes is preferable. Change of outfit can be a good idea for very little ones. 

Here are some basic tips in preparing your outfits. 

1. Coordinate, don't match. There are rare occasions where everyone in the same color works, however generally you want diversity in colors and patterns. It is cheesy and out of style for everyone to be wearing jeans and white polos. When thinking about colors, choose colors that compliment each other. 

2. Stay away from graphics and florescent colors.

3. Mom, this is your time to shine! I love when moms are in dresses (if they like dresses) or an outfit they feel great in! Mom, go out and buy your outfit or choose your outfit out of your closet first. Choose something you feel amazing in and build the families outfits around yours. 

4. Don't forget shoes and accessories are important too. Think about how the shoes will match as well as necklaces and headbands etc. These items can add a pop of color too!

5. Make a Pinterest board or inspiration board with outfit ideas. It will help you get a feel for colors and patterns you love as well as trends you like. 

6. Ask me for help, I am more than happy to help you along the way.

How do I view the photos after the session?

Once I get home with your photos, my work has just begun. Selecting and editing photos is one of the most important and challenging part of my photography process, it requires its time. Assuming that I have to get the right picture in the camera, editing means adjusting skin tones, contrast, highlight, shadows, etc.

A week or two after the shoot your edited images will be available for 8 weeks for viewing in a private online gallery, where you can download them all. You will get Jpg files, one full-resolution copy for printing and one low-resolution copy for web sharing. Files are not watermarked and you can print wherever you want.

A number between 50-90 digitals files will be available to you depending on the package.

Do you photograph in colour or black & white?
I do a mixture in color and in black and white. I carefully choose the photos that best suit one or the other.

Album and Books

An album or book is the best way to represent the memories of your story. It makes your memories more tangible.
I rely on Italian companies that provide high quality and gorgeous printed products. Possibilities are endless, ask me and we will find the best solution. Please visit my supplier’s website https://www.graphistudio.com/en/products/. I would be happy to show you some of their products.

Do we have rights to our photo?

You have royalty free reprints rights. You can personally print your photos wherever you want. However, as is standard in photography, you don’t have the right to sell the images for profit or to publish your images anywhere without mentioning my name.

How much does all this cost? 

My pricing is all-inclusive and therefore transparent. A €200 deposit is due when booking to secure your session date and the rest is due on the shooting day.
